RICHFIELD TWP., Michigan -- Delmar Childs marked his birthday this year with a gift few others could match -- his own veterinary clinic.
Childs, 42, opened the Childs Veterinary Clinic on Thursday at 3058 N. State Road, Suite B. The clinic is behind Paradise Video in a strip mall that runs crosswise to the road, north of Players Inn.
Owning a clinic is a longtime dream for the Colorado native, who earned his veterinary degree in 1994 from Colorado State University and has been in practice in Michigan since 1995.
Bruiser, a 1-year-old morkie (half-Maltese, half Yorkshire terrier) fusses while his veterinarian and owner, Delmar Childs, coaxes him to stand still. Childs and his wife, Cindy, have just opened the Childs Veterinary Clinic.Fund set up to help Angella Reynolds, Brian Taylor; couple injured in Tuscola County crash

DAVISON, Michigan -- Charles Lambert would spend hours on woodcarving, meticulously crafting each minute detail.
He never sold any of them -- he just did it for pleasure. Lambert, 89, of Davison died Friday of pancreatic cancer.
"He really did beautiful work," said his daughter, Pat Ross of Davison. "It was just a release for him. He had a lot of patience with it. He would spend weeks or even months on each piece."

DAVISON, Michigan -- Let the games begin.
That would be an appropriate opening for the annual Pumpkin Festival, considering the amount of competition folded into the two-day event.
A costume contest has been added to Friday and Saturday's lineup, which includes vying in such skills as running, pie baking, pumpkin racing, pumpkin decorating, pedal tractor driving and more.
Even the littlest of 'punkins' enjoy the annual Davison Pumpkin Festival, set to take place Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10-11.Annual Davison Pumpkin Festival features host of activities for all ages this Oct. 10-11
