Obama to campaign Monday in suburban Detroit

    by The Associated Press
    Friday September 05, 2008, 11:00 PM

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.-- Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama plans to campaign in Michigan for the third time in nine days.

The Illinois senator will lead a town hall discussion about economic issues facing Michigan families Monday at North Farmington High School.

The event is free, but tickets are required. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis starting at noon Saturday at the West Bloomfield Campaign for Change Office at 4123 Orchard Lake Road in Orchard Lake.

Obama and running mate Joe Biden campaigned Aug. 31 in Battle Creek and Obama made Labor Day appearances in Detroit and Monroe. Republican nominee John McCain and running mate Sarah Palin made their first post-convention campaign appearance Friday in Sterling Heights.

It says right in the article he was in Detroit on Labor day.. Downtown... amazing how people only hear what they want to hear....

Nice comment, gold1102. Just like the McCain campaign, it shows a lack of research on your part. Obama was in Detroit during the Labor Day Parade on Monday. Before you start spouting off at the mouth (or keyboard), read a newspaper or actually make an attempt to look online to keep up on politics.

I hope he makes an appearance in Ann Arbor - great place to fire up people to get involved! (we also have Chrysler arena which is big enough for everyone to get in to hear what he has to say.)

Is this the same guy who didnt want my vote in the primaries? I wanted to vote for him but they made their statement. Now my vote is going to McCain.

Amazing how people just spout off without looking at the facts first, aren't they embarrassed when they called out?

    Wingsforlife,

ALL the democratic candidates promised to pull their names from any primary ballot if they broke party rules. All of the candidates did, EXCEPT Hillary. Why did you want to vote for Obama in the primaries? Was it his positions on issues? Have his positions on issues changed? No, they haven't, so it appears you vote on emotion and not intellect. You're a perfect McCain voter, that’s what he needs, people who don't think.

gold1102- Just dying to find something wrong with Obama. Too bad you completely come off as a moron like most of the right when they try to explain why they would vote for a Republican again.

Let me ask you gold1102, if you had a contractor work on your house and they screw it up multiple times and each time they promise they would do better, do you still have them work on your house? I bet you would based on your rational for voting for McCain.

paola01- you are totally right. People go off on ignorance and unfortunately politicians play on ignorance.

Not Voting for MCCAIN myself just find it real interesting he only seems to visit the AREAS THAT HAVE LOTS OF MONEY TO THROW AROUND and a LABOR DAY PARADE last I knew wasn't a very big fund raising event.
Don't see him anywhere near Marquette or even above Cadillac, Is that because they are a SMALL CITY or not enough BIG MONEY FOR HIM TO RAISE or just their VOTES don't COUNT? Seems small town AMERICA as he says ONLY exisits in BIG CITIES and TOWNS that are conveinently LOCATED.
BUT KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK CAUSE WE KNOW WHERE ALL THE MONEY IS GONNA GO TOO.

want to be associated with defendant Kilpatrick.
Where is the money gonna go? Gold

gold1102 What does where Obama appears have to do with anything? He doesn't have to put himself at risk to prove himself. I support our troops, but that doesn't mean I have to go Iraq! It's not the people in Detroit he has to convince, he has our vote! It's some of the "suburban" people who deep down inside know that they will never vote for a black man, but they can't consciously admit this to themselves, but subconsciously they know it. So they look for any unsubstantial reason not to vote for Obama. I think I respect the redneck more than people like this. At least you can see their confederate flag proudly blowing in the wind. Unlike these cowards that I see and hear on a daily basis, pretending it's because he will raise taxes, or he wants to socialize healthcare...blah, blah, blah! It has to be because Obama is black, why else would people want the same party in office who has basically bent the country over a chair for the past 8yrs! Why don't they just pick up a confederate flag and a bible like the rest of them!

Obama's been campaigning in some of the most rural parts of Ohio at least...Give the man a break...does it matter so much that he comes to your town in the next 60 days??? Or does it matter that he'll make a difference in your town once elected??? Be mindful that he also has advisors that are helping him to decided in a stratigic way as to the areas he needs to concentrate on. Your town is obviously important, but he needs to get to some of the towns in states with the most electoral votes in order to win! I want him to go to the places that that will untimately help him get in office...please be understanding.
