Dear diary: My guardian angel is a vampire! "Twilight" offers teen romance with a twist

    by James Sanford | Gazette
    Thursday November 20, 2008, 12:01 AM

Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) sit by the river's edge in "Twilight."

Sixteen-year-old Bella just transferred from sunny Phoenix to the permanently overcast Washington town of Forks midway through the school year. That's bad.

But she just met a new guy who looks like he stepped off the cover of GQ and talks like he just escaped from a romance novel. That's great.

But he keeps warning her to stay away from him. That's bad. But he saved her when that out-of-control van nearly crushed her. That's great.

But she's just figured out her guardian angel is a vampire.

    Is that bad or great?

by Jake Coyle | Associated Press
    Wednesday November 19, 2008, 5:00 PM

NEW YORK -- The permanently suit-clad Stephen Colbert has traded in his pinstripes for a cardigan sweater, red turtleneck and furry boots.

The hour-long special airs Sunday at 10 p.m. EST on Comedy Central, and will on Tuesday be released as a DVD, complete with a Yule log of burning books.

Richland's Curt Camerucci, half of the Chicago duo Flosstradamus, called 'next wave of Chicago talent' by Chicago Tribune

by John Liberty | Kalamazoo Gazette
    Tuesday November 18, 2008, 6:55 PM

Richland native Curt Cameruci, shown here during a photo shoot outside Bruno's Pizza last summer.

KALAMAZOO -- I've written about Richland native Curt Cameruci, who is half of the Chicago DJ duo Flosstradamus, several times over the last 1.5 years.

I saw Flosstradamus live at one of the midnight sets during this summer's ROTHBURY Music Festival where I also briefly talked to Cameruci's folks who did their best to rock out with the crowd. I've been waiting for Flosstradamus to garner even more attention than they have already and it looks like they're getting a little early ink from the Chicago Tribune, courtesy of Kid Sister.

Cameruci, aka Autobot, and Josh Young, his partner on the 1s & 2s who goes by J2K, will be performing with Chicago MC Kid Sister Nov. 26 at Metro.

Former 'Bachelor' winner arrested for unruliness

    by Associated Press
    Monday November 17, 2008, 5:43 PM

DEL RIO, Texas -- A former NFL cheerleader and winner of "The Bachelor" is out of jail after being arrested in a southwest border-town bar for unruly behavior.

    Mary Delgado

Mary Delgado, who accepted a televised proposal from professional bass fisherman Byron Velvick on 2004's "The Bachelor," was arrested in Del Rio after refusing to leave a local bar.

Delgado, 41, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and resisting arrest. She was released about an hour later.

It's unclear if the former Buccaneers cheerleader had an attorney. A telephone listing could not be found for Delgado's home state of Florida, where she was arrested last year on a charge that she struck a man she lived with.
