MEAP math and reading scores climb, state education officials say

Students continue to make strides in math and reading, state education officials said today in releasing Michigan Educational Assessment Program test results. The standardized test’s math exam was passed by 95 percent of third-graders, 92 percent of fourth-graders, 79 percent of fifth-graders and 82 percent of sixth-graders. POLKTON TOWNSHIP — Firefighters from multiple departments responded to a fire in a pole barn around noon Friday in Ottawa County’s Polkton Township. There were no injuries in the fire at 8660 Leonard, according to Coopersville-Polkton Fire Chief Lee Waldie. Waldie said it appears a propane tank exploded as a result of the fire.
