Khan on Sports Radio 1370: Hossa determined to win the Cup
by Mike Itchue | MLive.com
Thursday July 03, 2008, 8:51 PM
Red Wings Insider Ansar Khan appeared on Sports Talk with Ryan Terpstra (WGHN 1370 Grand Haven) Thursday, and the main topic was without a doubt the Wings' surprise signing of forward Marian Hossa.
Khan said that Hossa is taking a huge risk in signing a one-year deal with Detroit when he could have had a multiple-year contract elsewhere, but that this proves how much he wants to win the Stanley Cup.
This latest signing is proof that the Red Wings are not only surviving in the salary cap era, but thriving. Says Khan, it has provided on impetus for players that want to play in Detroit to take less money to stay here.
"The salary cap might be the best thing that ever happened to the Red Wings," Khan said.
Listen to the full interview to hear which line Khan thinks that Hossa will play on, as well as his takes on the Brad Stuart signing, where goaltending prospect Jimmy Howard will start the season, and what's next on general manager Kenny Holland's checklist.
Impetus, dude, impetus. Impotence isn't a word I'd associate with the Stanley Cup champions.
No doubt that Conklin is their backup for sure, regardless if Howard outplays him in camp and the preseason. Another year in the minors for Howard, unless there's an injury.
I hope they bring back Downey and play him from time to time, depending on the team.
Because we need someone wholl stand up for our star guys now more then ever.
You are a great star. I am such a big fan of you since last year. Wish everything goes well for you. Can you do me one favor? just tell me is it you on ¡¾ wealthybeauty.c o m¡¿? I love that photo you without... there.
i hope so! You are a great actress. I am such a big fan of you since last year. Wish everything goes well for you. Can you do me one favor? just tell me is it you on wealthybeauty dot c o m? I love that photo you without... there.
Tough guys are going to be lining up to take shots at the Wings stars, count on it. Others coaches and GMs are ticked that the Wings keep sticking it to them, Hossa signing latest example. They will want to rough up our stars. The Wings better make sure they have an enforcer in the lineup to take care of things or someone's gonna get hurt.
davebogus how do we keep sticking it to other teams ?? lol our stars are our own draft picks , this is the first time a big guy comes here for less money in his prime
i do agree we need a tough guy though , if we had laraque we would of been invincible
Laraque is in montreal now and there really isnt to much left as far as tough guys. downey is more a middle weight than a heavy weight. if it comes down to it and they need to add toughness do it when you figure out if your going to keep lilja or not after training camp and adress the issue then. if you can find a guy now good but if not then use one our 60 defensemen. i am pretty excited to see how many goals the wings will put up this year. its hard to lose when your putting up 4-5 goals a game.
GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!
Downey should be the guy, give him a two-way for $550,000, put him in for select games. you can always send him down.
Laraque never plays. He just skates around with a mean look on his face. He's a waste of a million dollars.
Yeah, Laraque is a waste, a great fightter but you don't need to pay someone like that that much money as Montreal did. A tough guy who can't actually play the game should come cheap.
Who is this Ryan Terpstra? "Marian Hahssa" Learn how to pronounce his name.
we need somebody who will slap that sissy Jordan Tootoo around.
