    Clare County teens face charges they threatened a woman with guns

    HARRISON -- Two Clare County teens face charges in an armed robbery attempt at a Hayes Township home.

    Magistrate Rick LaBoda on Monday arraigned Larry D. Lyvere, 18, and Dustin A. Mowinski, 17, both of Harrison, on armed robbery, attempted first-degree home invasion, felony firearms possession and felonious assault charges.

    Saginaw man pleads no contest to child abuse charges

    MIDLAND -- A Saginaw man faces a prison sentence on child abuse charges.

    Authorities accused Alexis R. Clark-Parker of brutally beating his girlfriend's 3-year-old son, Elijah Delong, on Sept. 15 at the Midland home where the boy and his mother, Brandi Delong, live.

    Judge delays hearing for Susan LeFevre

    A Saginaw County judge Monday delayed a hearing on whether to toss out a 10-year drug conviction prison sentence for a former Thomas Township woman who fled to California after she escaped from a Michigan prison in 1976.

    Circuit Judge William A. Crane postponed the hearing for Susan M. LeFevre, 54, to Wednesday, Dec. 10.

    Authorities arrested LeFevre in April in a San Diego suburb.

    State Rep. Kevin Green pleads guilty to impaired driving

    A state representative has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of operating a motor vehicle while impaired and now faces probation instead of jail.

    Kevin J. Green, 38, a Wyoming Republican, admitted today in Saginaw County District Court that he was intoxicated when a sheriff's deputy found him slumped in the passenger seat of his car at Bay and Kochville in Kochville Township.

    Midland man gets jail term for child abuse

    A Midland man is headed back to jail for child abuse.

    Midland County Circuit Judge Jonathan E. Lauderbach on Friday sentenced Matthew S. Liedel, 28, to nine months behind bars with credit for 283 days already served, plus 18 months of probation, for first-degree child abuse.

    Jury convicts Freeland man in the slaying of a Saginaw teen

    A jury deliberated more than two hours before convicting a former Freeland man guilty in the slaying of a Saginaw teen.

    Jurors on Friday found Treveon D. Camel, 18, guilty of second-degree murder of Cquaton D. "Twon" Holmes, 17, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a firearm while committing a felony July 5, 2007, on Emerson near South Warren.

    Brothers from Detroit face felony charges in Mount Pleasant

    One of two brothers who are Central Michigan University students will face a jury while the other has entered a plea in an October assault and robbery.

    Darren A. Jackson on Wednesday pleaded guilty to unarmed robbery, larceny, interfering with an electronic communication device and assaulting, resisting or obstructing an officer.

    Trial begins for man accused in slaying

    Cquaton D. "Twon" Holmes rode up on a bicycle on Emerson near South Warren and pointed a gun at Treveon D. Camel's head, a prosecutor says.

    A few seconds later, Camel, who was near his girlfriend's home, shot his 9 mm twice and killed Holmes, Saginaw County Assistant Prosecutor Jon R. Sahli told a jury of eight men and six women during his opening statement Thursday at Camel's trial.

    Prosecutors charged Camel, 18, who has no known address with an open count of murder of Holmes, 17, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a firearm while committing a felony July 5, 2007.

    Man charged in day care marijuana operation waives hearing

    ITHACA -- The man charged with growing marijuana at an Arcada Township daycare center last month has waived his preliminary hearing in Gratiot County District Court.

    Andrew Perram, 25, was bound over for arraignment this week in Gratiot County Circuit Court before Judge Michelle Rick. Prosecutors charged him with one count of manufacturing marijuana, a four-year felony, Gratiot County Prosecutor Keith Kushion said.

    Perram remains free on bond.

    Saginaw Township man to stand trial in daughter's death

    A Saginaw Township man will stand trial in the death of his 4-month-old daughter.

    Saginaw County District Judge Christopher S. Boyd heard testimony Tuesday during a preliminary hearing that prosecutors say points guilt toward Scott Perreault, who faces charges of first-degree murder of Jenna Perreault and first-degree child abuse.

    A conviction could lead to a sentence of up to life in prison without parole.
    Court officials have not set a trial date for Perreault, who was in jail without bond.

    Trial planned for January in deaths of Huron County, Michigan, mother, daughter

    SANDUSKY -- A man accused of killing his girlfriend and her daughter will face trial Tuesday, Jan. 27.

    Mark J. Soule, 50, of Ubly faces two counts of murder in the March 10 deaths of Janice Boal, 50, of Ubly and Stacey A. Kredell, 30, of Bad Axe. Conviction could lead to a sentence of up to life in prison without parole.



    Judge adjourns hearing for man accused in beating death of Vassar mom

    A judge has recessed a preliminary hearing until at least Monday for a Saginaw man who faces charges in the beating death of a Vassar mother of two.

    At the request of prosecutors, Saginaw County District Judge Kyle Higgs Tarrant adjourned Friday's hearing because sheriff's deputies could not locate a witness whom authorities served with a subpoena to testify.

    Barry S. Coleman Jr., 26, who has no known address, faces charges of first-degree felony murder during extortion or, in the alternative, an open count of murder, in the death of Tiffany L. Cody-Smith.

    Saginaw woman faces charge that she set fire to her house

    A 45-year-old Saginaw woman was in the Saginaw County Jail on a charge that she set her home on fire during Devil's Night, Oct. 30.

    Saginaw County Chief District Judge M. Randall Jurrens on Monday arraigned Carolyn R. Haulcy on one count of arson of a home and a $50,000 cash or surety bond. She could face up to 20 years in prison.
